On the search for something a bit different and off the beaten path in a warm European destination? You should consider Pedras Salgadas Park Spa And Nature Park. Located in Northern Portugal in the Pedras Salgadas Park, that lies between Chaves and Vila Real.
Although it is a truly historic place and there is around 8 km of pathways through the 20 hectares of beautiful countryside – it is what is located in the middle of the park that we want to highlight in particular. We want to draw your attention to the rather sublime and intriguing Eco House.
What Are The Eco Houses?
These are accommodation for people looking to stay at the resort and the project was designed and developed by architect Luis Rebelo de Andrade. De Andrade used a modern design to outline the Eco Houses and the building work was handled by Modular System.
They consist of a bathroom, kitchenette, living room, a hall, two bedrooms and a deck and have been arranged, designed and decorated with comfort as a priority and so that they merge seamlessly with their surroundings.
There are 16 of these in total – that is – there are 13 actual eco houses, a cottage and 2 tree houses.
All of them have been prefabricated off-site and then build from the ground up on site, so that the building process did not have any adverse effects on the ancient, spectacular trees.
Their features and construction merge perfectly into the surroundings of the park, using nature as a foundation. There are three different size options available including:
2 Privilege Eco Houses
These are designed to comfortably house 4 to 6 people and have an area of 86 m2 and, if necessary can also include 2 additional beds. In addition to the rooms noted above, they consist of:
• 2 bedrooms with a double bed in each
• 2 W. C.s
7 Deluxe Eco Houses
These are designed to comfortably house 2 to 4 people with an area of 62 m2 and if necessary can also include 2 additional beds. In addition to the rooms noted above, they also provide:
• 1 bedroom with a double bed
4 Superior Eco Houses
These are designed to comfortable house 2 to 4 people with an area of 44 m2 and if necessary can also include 2 additional beds. In addition to the rooms noted above, they also provide:
• 1 bedroom with a double bed
Although they are seen as being a relaxing way to enjoy the gorgeous Portuguese countryside, these Eco Houses are not without their amenities and home comforts. All Eco Houses include the following:
• Parking
• Laundry
• 24 hour security
• Coffee express machine
• Microwaves, dishwashers and frigobars in the kitchenette
• Hair-dryer
• Safe
• Air conditioning
• LED TV
• Free Wi-Fi internet
• Maid service (daily)
• 1 Sofa in the lounge
• Takeaway service (by request)

Obstacle Course And Thermal Spa On Site
One of the reasons why people flock to Pedras Salgadas Park apart from its exceedingly beautiful countryside and stunning vistas, is the on-site Thermal Spa. In a renovated facility, you can enjoy a Turkish-style bath, sauna and indoor pool. The water is sourced from local mineral springs.
On most days, this is the perfect way to pamper yourself and relax. However, if you try out the obstacle course suspended in air, which is another tourist attraction to the area, you may want to check into the spa to soothe your aching bones, joints and muscles.
