Cantilevered Cliff House on Japanese Mountainside
Situated on the edge of the sacred Mount Omine in Japan is this charming development, inspired by traditional fishing cabins and designed by Masato Sekiya.
The grey exterior seamlessy blends with the surrounding rock formations, giving the illusion that this unusual building is a natural part of its environment. But inside you’ll find a thoroughly contemporary living space with plywood partitions that can be altered at a moment’s notice. Initially, the floor plan is quite linear, in order to make the most of the amazing views over the countryside. But the plywood walls can be moved around with ease to create one seamless space with unbelievable views over the landscape.
In its regular layout, the Tenkawa Fishing Cabin has everything you need to live comfortably, including a guest bedroom and minimal, peaceful living space. Despite having such large windows overlooking a busy public area, the property still feels perfectly private and secluded. The only parts of the structure that can be seen from the nearby road are the green roof and the car parking space.
