Next up, is magnificent Grade I listed home Devizes Castle, which is located close to the picturesque, historic market town of Devizes in Wiltshire. On first appearance, the estate may look like an English Heritage or National Trust property, but it is, in fact, a private residence that is up for sale for £3.25million.

The castle is steeped in history having its origins as an 11th-century Norman motte and bailey castle that played a significant role in the Norman conquest. The original wood castle burned down in 1113 and was rebuilt in stone. Devizes has also had a number of notable royal guests including King John, Henry III and Edward I.

Although the castle is packed with the obligatory castle features like castellations and turrets, Davizes also offers the perfect balance of luxury and modern comfort. For example, take a look at the stunning interior to see how homely this enormous castle looks and feels.  The location is perfect for families too, with popular local schools on its doorstep. We’d imagine every child’s dream would be to grow up in a castle like Devizes…

However, you could secure a whole castle for a similar price tag and you will get a lot more space for your money. As well as some additional fortification.”
