Britain’s property market continues to flourish with soaring prices across many of the most exclusive areas, drawing attention from high-end investors around the globe. New analysis has identified the most expensive streets across the UK, providing a snapshot of where the elite are choosing to invest. The findings highlight the significant variance in asking prices, both within the bustling heart of London and in its quieter, yet equally prestigious, outskirts.

The most expensive UK streets to buy a property
According to new research, which is based on streets where at least five properties have been listed for sale or rent this year on Rightmove, Buckingham Gate in Westminster leads the way as the most expensive street, with residential properties averaging a cool £9,633,333 asking price.

Currently for sale in Buckingham Gate is this 9-bedroom, 9-bathroom, 15,845 sq. ft Georgian stucco-fronted property boasting a cinema room, a service kitchen, two private terraces and a leisure complex in the basement featuring a swimming pool, sauna and gym. As its name suggests the property, which is offered for sale for a jaw-dropping £45 million, is situated just a stone’s throw away from Buckingham Palace and the Royal Parks St James’s and Green Park. It is also only a short walk from some of London’s most visited shops including Harrods, Fortnum and Mason and Selfridges.
London tops the table for the top five most expensive UK streets to live
This year, the researchers report a notable uptick in property searches within London’s most elite areas, including celebrity-frequented locales like Mayfair, St John’s Wood and Holland Park.
In fact, Vicarage Gate in Holland Park follows Buckingham Gate as the second priciest area, with properties costing an average of £6,332,000 while Park Road in St John’s Wood ranks as the third most expensive road with property prices averaging £5,814,286.

As well as being the priciest areas to live in, the researchers found a year-on-year surge in searches for properties for sale in prestigious London boroughs, such as Mayfair with a year-on-year increase of 35 per cent, St John’s Wood 15 per cent and an 11 per cent rise in Holland Park.

Britain’s most expensive streets to buy outside of London
According to the research, Old Avenue in Weybridge, Surrey, ranks as the most expensive street outside of London. However, the asking prices are way lower than the highs of London averaging £2,633,333.

One property currently for sale on Old Avenue is this 6-bedroom, 6,829 sq. ft period property boasting a swimming pool, badminton court and yoga studio sitting on 1.6 acres, which is listed for sale at a fraction under £5 million.
Taking second place in the most expensive streets outside of London list is The Ridgeway in Cuffley, Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, with house prices averaging £2,289,286, followed by Manor Road in Chigwell, Essex, where average property prices are £2,219,444. Prices average £2,024,000 in Swithland Lane Rothley, Leicester which took fourth spot on the table while Norsey Road Billericay, Essex came fifth with property prices averaging £1,800,000.

The UK’s most expensive streets to rent
On the rental side, Albion Street in Bayswater, West London, tops the chart with properties averaging £20,857 per month.

For example, this 6-bedroom rental listing on Albion Street, near Hyde Park is available for £21,667 per calendar month (pcm).
Pavilion Road in Knightsbridge follows at £15,251 pcm and Duke Street in Mayfair at £14,441 pcm.

The most expensive UK streets to rent outside of London
Once again, the top five most-expensive UK streets to rent are in London. The most expensive street for rentals outside London is London Road in Ascot, Berkshire, with an average rent of £6,831 per month.

This 6-bedroom gated Victorian 5,511 sq. ft property on London Road, Ascot occupies an elevated position and is within walking distance of Ascot High Street and the station and is listed for a month rental price of £6,831pcm.
This is followed by Manor Road in Chigwell at £4,311 pcm and Deansgate in Manchester at £3,766.

Rightmove’s property expert Tim Bannister said: “London’s status as the hub of luxury property in the UK remains unchallenged, with Buckingham Gate in Westminster commanding the highest average asking price. Although the possibility of buying one of these homes is limited to a very lucky few, there’s clearly a fascination with these prestigious homes as we find they’re often among our most viewed properties on Rightmove.”
