Plans for Striking New Residential Block in Canary Wharf by Architects Behind Bird’s Nest and Tate Modern

Herzog and de Meuron, the famous architects behind the Beijing National Stadium, more commonly known as the Bird’s Nest, and the iconic Tate Modern, have recently designed what looks set to be another amazing piece of architecture. The latest in a long series of additions to Canary Wharf, the new residential tower will have 58 storeys, 483 apartments and a unique circular shape.

Taking inspiration from the curved Thames pathway below it and ensuring that the apartments benefit from maximum natural light by facing north, the new build almost looks like different levels would be able to move from right to left in a similar way to how numbers move on a padlock.

In some properties, the luxury interiors have been designed by Goddard Littlefair and feature raw concrete walls, while others have been handled by Bowler James Brindley. They feature circular glass enclosure showers with frosted glass walls made by the same company that makes the windscreens for BMW cars.

Some of the attractive amenities in this new tower include the gym, swimming pool and spa that all residents will have access to.

What about prices? For a one bedroom apartment that measures 701 square feet, it costs £825,000, whereas for a three bedroom apartment which is 2,000 square feet, it costs a cool £3.9m. There are some studio apartments that have already sold and there are penthouses that have not been priced yet.

Already over 300 of the flats have been sold and buyers will have the opportunity to start moving in by the last quarter of 2020.

You’re probably wondering what kind of buyers are interested in the property? According to the developers, there is a wide variety that include small families with children, professional tennis players and anyone looking to have a home base in the city during their working week.
